LGBTQ TRAINING FACILITATOR CANDIDATES
To that end, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion seeks members from all ranks, titles and backgrounds, whether firefighter, EMT or civilian, to serve as LGBTQ Training Facilitators.
The LGBTQ Training Facilitator’s primary function will be to co-facilitate an interactive training session on understanding, respecting and effectively communicating with FDNY’s LGBTQ employees and the LGBTQ community at large. The “LGBTQ and the FDNY” training will comprise of two sessions held on a daily basis at Headquarters (9 MetroTech Center).
Sessions will be two and a half to three hours long. There is no expected time commitment from Training Facilitators, although a minimum of two days (four sessions) per month of facilitation is required. LGBTQ Training Facilitator candidates will receive comprehensive training on how to facilitate the “LGBTQ and the FDNY” training program.
Following completion of the training and successful facilitation of two sessions, LGBTQ Training Facilitator candidates will receive official certification.
Candidates for the position must have a strong commitment to maintaining a fair and equitable work environment, and must be allies or members of the LGBTQ community. Background in training, conducting presentations, or other public speaking experience or communications background preferred.
