0 0 3 3 6 AN absolute slap in the face, I was face to face with Guliani at a Trump Rally in Lakeland, Florida. I told him I was a retired cop from NY. He turned white. POS 00336 Now, I went to Nassau 07/24/92 but I still remembered the "zeros for heroes" In fact, NYC sued me, after I left, for taking "excessive vacation time" before I left (first born child only two weeks before). F the job, the city, et al. I made up that $1,275 a million times over.

I am out 18 years now, hard to believe how quickly time has gone by. during my time OTJ there were many events that could have been points in time or incidents that would have led some to say job died. Some were: knapp commission layoffs cardillo bumpers buddy boys scandal thompkins Sq Park Larry Davis Dirty 30 out of town Brown Dinkins Mollen Commission Abner Louima Howard Safir but for me the job died when Giuliani was elected. Yes he was pro cop in public because it benefited him but he ruined the job and took money out of our pockets. Compsta became an absolute torture chamber and all of the experienced old bosses left in record time only to be replaced by a new culture of yes men at the top. Anemone and Maples became the Grand inquisitors and treated folks like sh1t. Then when it came time to reward us for all the sacrifices that we made and he gave us zeros and a big FU. Frankly, after 1995 the job was dead to me. I am shocked I lasted another five years.

For me it was when, if I remember right, it was Manhattan South Task Force was arresting Act Up protesters who were all infected with AIDS, when catching AIDs was a death sentence, were order to take off the latex gloves they were wearing by the white shirts just to be politically correct.

Some great memories on here reading this stuff. I agree with most. But anyone who was on in the 50s,60s, 70s, experienced their own trials and tribulations of the politics of policing in NYC. I came on 82.....did 25 yrs. Its hard to explain to others but policing in NYC is a different animal . Politics and media prevail. DAs offices that clammer for a shot to nail a cop to the cross. A city that was always at its heart very liberal. With creation of cell phones, cameras everywhere, and other technology cops in small towns have same problems as their acts are broadcast on CNN and You Tube. In past it was only NYPD , LAPD, that were national news. Now everyones a target. Ben Ward, other then his saying Eleanor reminded him of his grandmother, LOL...wasnot so bad. I had inside info he saved more cops jobs from trial room then anyone. He was a big contract guy, too. When I made Detective, he must have been blasted, spoke about the importance of civilians in job, never said a word about us fools. LOL Relative to the 25 pct SNEU team caper...nice woman. No experience. A lawyer too. Sorry but she made bad move in haste. CO MNFIAU was a legend of a rotten soul.....the DAs office should never have indicted them all. Was a horror. I was a Sgt in MN Narco at time. "We knew" how to work. Enough said.
