Saw a video on FB from the NYS Police, saying that everyone with a Carry Permit issued in NYS, other than Nassau, Suffolk, NYC, and Westchester has to fill out a recertification form with Albany. If you were issued a Pistol Permit before January 15 2013, you have to fill out the form. It sounds to me like this is a database that NYS is compiling of permit holders. And it does not matter what the expiration date on your permit says. You have to fill out the form regardless. You can view the form on NYS Troopers/Gov.Anyone have any further info ?

Not everyone. troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/pistol_revolver_license_recertification.phpNew York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County and Westchester County Permit Holders: This system does not process recertifications for New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permits. If you currently have a New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permit, you must follow the requirements that are in place in your county, rather than use this recertification system.

Just keep up your HR218 Certification and screw their form.
For the cost of a stamp, you can mail their permit back to them.
Although HR218 allows you to possess/conceal ANY pistol with your annual certification, most NYS FFL's will not allow you to purchase a pistol without a NYS Permit.
You could also move to one of the 33 free states, which do not infringe upon their citizens's constitutional rights.
Heck, you can a non-resident Florida CWP through the mail.
AND, if HR38 (National Reciprocity for CWP's) passes, I'll bet more than a few NYS Liberal Anti-gun Politicians will have collective strokes !!!

I believe HR-38 is up for a vote today, and then sent on to the Senate. Not holding out much hope for it making it out of there.
