After Mark Wahlberg, ( the star of Lone Survivor), made this rant about some idiotic statements by Tom Cruise-I wanted to see this movie.

I went to see Lone Survivor this past weekend and the movie will have you proud of these men and their sacrifice.
It is painful to watch for several reasons and one of them is that they had their hands tied in the decisions they were forced to make. There was also lack of proper support available for the responding team due to decisions made to withdraw resources from the area.
The actors did an excellent job and Ben Foster really stood out in this film. Watching him in the firefights reminded me of his role in 3:10 to Yuma. He had the same worn look in both movies and was a warriors warrior as were the rest of the men.
I debated going to the theater to see this film or waiting for the DVD to come out but being a fan of the big screen we went at 23:30 and had a great crowd watching with us. (nobody got shot.) The vast mountain scenes were worth the trip to the theater and it really grabbed you and pulled you in.
At the end of the film they show personal photos of the men who lost their lives in the operation and you could hear a pin drop as the entire theater was glued to their seats.
You will find yourself holding your breath watching this film and looking for cover because the film puts you right in it with these brave men. It is brutal and up close and personal and I have no idea how some of these scenes were filmed but you feel the grit and hard cold stone of the mountains they are operating in.
The time flies by quickly as you are caught up in this story from start to finish. The actors really did an awesome job portraying the real men who were there.
This film should be required watching for every American.
