You heard it hear first. The black branding on the uniform pants are to be replaced with yellow brading. Similar to Chicago police department. This means of course that cops have to buy a whole new set of uniform pants...at $60 a pop. Effective January 1st of 2014.

The LBA just told its membership that the cargo pants are out for patrol but no yellow braid.

What Brain surgeon came up with that idea...... Someone whose brother-in-law got that commission. Remember those stupid ESU base-ball caps they had the cops wearing a while ago?

Exactly. Someone is getting payoff. Yellow strips will make you a target on the street and reflect light at night. Good thing is that you may get mistaken for a doorman and left alone

If you don't have to wear it then why worry about it. Uniforms change every few years and it's just part of the job. Nothing new if you are a seasoned vet.

This means of course that cops have to buy a whole new set of uniform pants...at $60 a pop. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ? $60? ? I came on in 1968 and the uniform pants cost more than that back then. What are they making them out of - paper? Our uniforms cost $600. There were only 4 uniform dealers you could go to to purchase them. When you went to the Equipment Bureau you had to take out a pension loan to pay for them and it came out of your bi-weekly pay check. $600.00 BUCKS. We MADE $5,400 a year. And you beter not dare try to get by with a pair of ESS pants and it didn;t matter if you worked in the biggest sh*thole precinct in the city. Ahhh the good old days.

The proposed uniforms changes were COD Banks' ideas. Kelly shot them down. As of yet, Bratton has not proposed or agreed to any changes. We'll see what happens.
