To Live & Die in L.A.
If you have never taken the time to check out this movie you really need to see it. It was made back in 1985 and the soundtrack alone is still one of the top rated.
This film also had one of the most expensive car chases ever filmed long before they had all the CGI special effects. A great movie that needs to be seen on a big screen but just in case you aren't able to catch it or find the DVD someone has put it up on youtube.
And yes that is the guy from the original CSI in Vegas back in his prime.
Love those 80's Gran Furys and my first unit was the exact same model and color as the dak blue units in the USSS detail at the beginning of the film.
Part One.

Right before I went into the Academy, "STRIPES" came out.
I always thought some of it's scenes were hilarious.

It was an excellent movie and that car chase made the one in Bullit look pedestrian. I've always thought that William L. Petersen was very underrated as an actor.
A lot of the cop movies that came out when I was a rookie (early 70s) were 3rd rate nonsense and not worth watching. The biggest one was probably Serpico but my personal favorite was The Laughing Policeman with Walter Matthau and Bruce Dern. I've always thought it was the most authentic portrayal of day to day life in a Homicide Squad. Great job of capturing the personalities and culture of the SFPD. The acting & dialogue was spot on and it had a decent car chase as well.

A very good movie.....'To Live And Die.......' I believe it was directed by a very good director....Michael Mann. 'Stripes,' was pretty funny.....I liked Sidney Lumets 'Prince Of The City,' which came out when I had a year on the job. It should be shown in any academy. Also the Documentary 'The Thin Blue Line.'

Erroll Morris 'The Thin Blue Line,' a must see for any Police Academy.......up is down, black is white......if you never saw, you should! Haunting music by Phillip Glass.....
