It always bothered me to hear city people move to more rural areas, obviously because of all of the benefits of living there, and then make fun of the people who actually are from there... Hey, AG, I'm from LI, but my best friends live in Wallkill, and I visit them several times a year. They've been up there since 1991, and I love going up there, and am familiar with the area.

Well if you are visiting, then you can say whatever you want. I just don't understand why people would MOVE there and then make fun of them.

AG - the early migrations were MUCH longer than 20 years ago, my father moved us up here 35 yers ago & there were plenty who had come before us. Migrations occur every time there's a decent contract settlement & people are earning just enough more to squeak by with the mortgage, etc.........
Putting in sidewalks doesn't mean you're bringing the crap you left behind, I think of my old neighborhood in Brooklyn (Flatbush), there were sidewalks in LONNNNGGGGGGG before the neighborhood went bad. It's a matter of finding that right mix of what you left to find & what you left behind. Personally, I like where I am & the fact that there are no sidewalks, etc. but I also like having them in the town itself - it makes for much safer walking around.......
