Hi Guys
I won't be around until probably Monday sometime, I'm going to the three day POPPA training retreat in Staten Island
This is something that I believe in....those of us who are less broken taking care of us who are more broken.
Won't be on the MD show, but I reminded laurnsdad to call in, Will check back on Monday

This was asked in another post, maybe you can ask them what this is all about and if there is any truth to it: And, to POPPA who sold their soul to the devil by entering into an agreement with the department to not be permitted to treat cops who are modified; this so that they could get $2 million in funding from the nypd. I know a modified detective who they refused to help EVEN THOUGH HE IMPLICITLY LET THEM KNOW HE WAS GOING TO RAM HIS CAR THROUGH THE NEAREST TELEPHONE POLE to end the harrassment he was receiving at the hands of the Department. They told him that they couldn't help him bcs he was modified yet promised that someone else would call him back - NO ONE ever did. I had to leave my house and drive around until I found him and talked him out of it. Also, another modified SGT was being harrassed by the DEPT and they also refused to help him, citing their "agreement" with the Dept. The sergeant followed through, got a gun and KILLED HIMSELF. I'm not sure if Lt. Pigott sought them out, but there was a man needing help and he wasn't GOING TO GET IT FROM POPPA. Sorry Laurnsmom this isn't directed at you in the least bit - but Bill Genet and his ilk can ALL go to the devil). |

I am not at liberty to speak of things of which I do not know. At this point what I will say is this...Truck 11, I am sorry for your friend and for your loss. I understand your being angry at the situation.
J girl, I don't know what happened with your friend. I do know that I waited a long time to be called for the training and was happy to be part of it.
I have not found anyone at Poppa to be discourteous or disrespecful in my limited dealings with them. My sole goal in joining the organization was to give back and avail myself to a brother or sister officer who needs an ear and a direction at a time when they may, God forbid feel that they have none. I've been in that spot, before POPPA, and was lucky enough to have caring friends who didn't judge me or my problems. We are all not that lucky.
Whatever their funding or financial issues are is not really my business. Quite frankly, the retiree program is a separate part of POPPA and I am not sure where the funding comes from, and I don't care. I wouldn't care if the money came from drug dealers as long as I knew it was going to the intended purpose, to help another cop.
