RIP Chief. I know he had a terrible reputation, but in my limited dealings with him, he was a gentleman (he was a 1 star at the time).

Please pray for his family. All of my interactions with him were fine - you did your job and he was supportive. He has a son on the job and one in the Marines. Respect his family during this difficult time.

He was a Captain at a young age. He was intelligent...knew the PG inside out. But was not personable. Many of you would know the legendary Lieutenant who had his Cold Case office within the 105. The Lt liked his cigars and often shared a stogie with Chief of Dept and Chief of Dets. Morris would always be on his ass to stop smoking the cigars in the building. The Lt would just say, “Feck off, Junior”. Morris would turn beet red and walk away
Regardless of his foibles, he didn’t deserve to die in this way

Over the past several years I had heard many negative things said about Chief Morris. I only had a handful of dealings with him and they were never negative. He always treated me with respect and whenever I encountered him in the hallowed halls of PBMN, or in the palace, he always greeted me with a smile and a "good morning" or "good night." As others have stated, I would never wish this disease on anyone. Perhaps he was not the warm and fuzzy, knock around boss that we all would like to work for. I don't care a fiddler's fuck about that. What I care about is the fact that this man dedicated himself for nearly 40 years to "this thing of ours" and that he was robbed of his retirement by the a bio-weapon manufactured by a communist regime.
I see that some posters have posted messages that he has not died, and that the media has jumped the gun. If that's the case, it should be a clear indication to all of how the media buzzards are nothing but a bunch of bottom-feeding, blood sucking scumbags.

Take a walk over to any Finest Message printer in any command over the last few weeks. Grab a handful of those messages and thumb through them. Reading through those messages, which include deaths of retired MOS, is like reading through the obituaries in any of your local newspapers. Being retired is not a guarantee that you won't catch this virus. I am still working as I approach my 28th Anniversary and I will leave when I am ready.

Stay safe my friend and while I will keep collecting those pension checks, YOU keep banking that variable and 1/60ths! Just above all else, stay safe for you and your family. -PPC

How many pages will the union magazines reserve in the back for all the deaths that have happened. True, leave on your terms. No disrespect intended for those still working. But here is where I think a lot of chiefs get wrong. It's a very tight race at the top. Chiefs are competing for each others spot. Most, if financially savvy, dont need to work anymore and live a great life. But something about being a big boss keeps them on longer than anyone finds useful. If they are a great guy, doing a good balancing act, and protecting the men and women below them, I applaud their desire to stay on.

nypost.com Coronavirus-stricken NYPD Chief of Transportation William Morris expected to be pulled off life supportBy Tina Moore and Craig McCarthy 2 minutes April 21, 2020 | 6:12pm | Updated April 21, 2020 | 7:43pm Coronavirus-ailing NYPD Chief of Transportation William T. Morris was expected to be pulled from life support after his family arrives at the hospital, The Post has learned. The 61-year-old, a three-star chief who oversaw traffic and highway patrol, was reportedly on life support earlier on Tuesday and doctors were waiting for his son before removing him, police sources said. Police Commissioner Dermot Shea appointed Morris to his executive staff in his first days as the city’s top cop and tasked Morris with heading up the NYPD’s role in the city’s Vision Zero program. Morris’ death would mark the 32nd fatality from the coronavirus outbreak among NYPD ranks. Six others were uniformed members of the service while the remaining 25 were civilian employees. Transit Bureau Chief Edward Delatorre contracted the virus in March but has since fully recovered. As of Monday evening, 4,435 members of the NYPD have tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. Nearly 5,000 cops remained out sick with almost 1,700 in quarantine, according to the NYPD.

We all have had bad bosses and I can't think of one that I would wish this on. May he continue to get well. I know what it's like not to be able to breathe. It's not fun at all.

How Blessed his family is to be able to go into a hospital at this time and see someone for the last time. I lost a friend last week and none of his family could see him especially when for two (2) days he was sitting in the morgue waiting for removal.

Last week at this time I went back home to Pa to stand in the parking lot at the hospital where my friend was finally strong enough to come to the window and wave. He was released on Friday. I'm very sorry for your loss. May he RIP

Whats up with this story? A Hail Mary pass worked ? Hope he pulls thru to see a direct deposit of a pension check. Wopply Pops you never met a really evil person on this job who should get this instead of some others ? LOL I can think of three of four who should be choosen to be called home way before some good people out there. I will respectively disagree with posters who feel there is anything good coming out of you doing 40 years on this job. He failed to collect about 1.7 mil in cash, which can never be recouped. Never. I did 27 years, I came in in 81 will Bill Morris. I hope he pulls through and retires immediately to enjoy his pension and life. Dont give me that " hes covered under death gamble" BS- he should enjoy it

Once you do 10 yrs as a captain or above, the pension does Not get much better. But some guys just cannot cut and run and not feel like they are special. Most of these high ranking folks are lonely and insecure. And that is why they stay. Bill hope you make it and collect some of your pension checks.
