Real police departments doing their jobs.
In the NYPD you'll hear a duty captain screaming to call off the pursuit if you reach above 15 mph.

IIRC the Pit Maneuver is only "safe" under 40mph, this might be why

Holy Crap! The trooper car smashed the light pole in half!
Thank God the Trooper is ok. That was wild.
I never had the pleasure of executing a pit maneuver myself, being NYPD pretty much bans them except by Highway Units, I believe. Looks like a lot of fun 😎

rammed a motorcycle from the stern at relatively low speed and the riders balls hit the gas tank and that endeth minor pursuit. his balls were HURTING, rolling in the right lane of the FDR Dr at E. Houston Street. people driving by, mostly Cops I think were laughing as hard and loud as I was.

I never enjoyed pursuits in NYC. The RMPs were always falling apart and unsafe at any speed (except Highway). As a Sergeant, I always had a hard decision when to call 'em off. My rule was if it involved a 13 or a cop hurt, you let it go and damn the consequences. 16 vehicles were a quick 'call it off" as nothing good would come of it. Everything else was on a case by case basis. I thought that the training was good on this point- consider the ability of the RMP operator (know your guys), the condition of the RMP (see point number one) and the severity of the offense.
In the wide open spaces where this was, absent exigent circumstances (confirmed shots fired, known fugitive, etc.) I would let it go from a distance until Aviation showed up. I remember a case where Aviation Unit (Cape, you want to comment on tactics from an AU perspective??) would sit back and drink coffee doing 100 MPH in the air waiting for the douchebag to run his tank dry...and then have fun with the FLIR to assist ground units with the apprehension.
No production auto can outrun a Bell Textron or Sikorsky.

there was a pursuit in 90ish where the savage ran over a 9th Pct cop with a stolen cops POV. it would around lower Manhattan and over the Willie B into Queens where it was finally called off. savage was caught the next day. another even wilder one started in NJ, by a local PD. NJSP gets involved, then Newark PD, through the tunnel and PAPD joins in. into the 1st division so the 1st, 5th, then the seventh and ninth pcts plus Transit and Housing in close. around lower Manhattan and up over the willie be to the BQE over the Koz into Queens. then you have half of Brooklyn North involved and Queens Marines as well as Highway. It goes on as the Jersey guys were not letting up for anything. one big conga line, aviation in the air, the radio absolutely knuts with captains, lt's Sgt's and probably a duty chief calling it off, but it kept on going and going on to the GCP and now int Nassau so NCPD is in the hunt and soon into Suffolk so they join in and then the State Police super charged cruiser comes roaring up passing us like we were standing still and he pit maneuvers this savage into a rolling spin. car parts all over the place. savage crawls out of the vehicle and the Jersey guys give him the business for shooting at a Cop. as soon as that happened all the shitty PD, Housing and Transit went adios and motored back to the shitty. what a glorious night. burned a shitte load of gas on that one. and nothing as I can recall happened to any of the cops. once the job heard it was for shooting at a cop all was given the hand of God. go and sin no more. different times.

I wonder if the front profile of those style push bumpers contributed to launching him into the air by acting as runners and allowing the cruiser to ride over the perp's undercarriage.
