Same mortality rate as influenza IF the same exact mitigation maneuvers were used on both, including a vaccine then yeah ok.
But when we have all these social distancing, masks, shut down of small businesses, all the hand washing were not in effect, the China Virus would be much deadlier. The numbers are deceiving.
Its like comparing apples and oranges. Yes both are fruits, but different trees, and different nutritional facts. Stick with the symptoms alone. Both are Upper Respiratory Infections but with very different damaging effects. Too many experts are trying to over simplify it.

The main issue with the fatality rate is the lack of testing. Nobody knows how many people actually have or had it. The USC testing sample in LA County estimates that the number of cases could be 80x higher than they have on record.
Swine Flu was deadly for children. This virus is harder on older people, as well as folks with other underlying conditions.

Some places like Sweden didn’t lock down but took precautions and have the same death rate. Also, the numbers here are being skewed by adding people that died and were never tested and I know many people that were sick and never tested and never hospitalized.

The facts just don't show that. We have countries that have not adopted these drastic measures as we have. Yes, they have deaths but no drastic numbers. The same or less than our country. We have states in our country that did not adopt the lock down, they have no huge numbers of deaths.

Again, this is an inaccurate comparison. Take cities in the East coast where piling people on top of each other, and stuffed in mass transit, and where everyone travels from 6am to 9am, and from 3pm to 6pm plus overcrowded class rooms then try to compare it to an agricultural state that do not have the same density and you end up with an inaccurate view of the numbers. Each state is different. Just as how it effects people with genetic predisposition to diabetes, heart and lung disease are more susceptible to the damaging effects and secondary infections than to those who are generally in better health, and not forgetting researchers have found 3 separate strains circulating the globe. And one more important factor. This corona virus is new and with a shortened season as compared to the flu. The time schedules arent even the same, yet experts are saying the flu is deadlier. The numbers are way off. Too many are trying to downplay it. There is no real true comparison to make for at least a full year of studies are done. We are only 4 months into this. And yet, it has cost 6 trillion to the US economy, 25 million unemployed, 750k positive tests, over 40K deaths. We never took such draconian steps world wide before, including the cessation of hand shakes, yet people say there is really nothing to worry about. Remember this tid bit no one is talking about. The flu, with its various strains, a vaccine is an educated guess each year in predicting which strain will be prevalent and yet we have tens of thousands die. The China Virus is totally new, and experts say this is going to be with us for years to come. It isnt replacing the flu, its joining the flu in causing death. So it is very decieving to compare the two, as if one will displace the other. No. They just doubled or more, the death rate from upper respiratory infections. That is the true number we should be concerned about. Over twice the mortality rate is going to be the norm, if we dont get a vaccine soon. That means we have some serious permanent changes to our lifestyle, our freedoms will be effected. |

Will there ever be a vaccine? There isn't 1 for either SARS or MERS. And MERS seems to pop up every year.

No there won’t be a vaccine because there will be several therapeutic remedies such as hydrocloroquine with zinc and Remzidir that are working and much cheaper. This is why the left is downplaying them; no money to be made. |

Here is my .02: I believe the Trump Administration got wind of the virus spreading in China and given the location (Wuhan), they weren't sure if it was a bioweapon, an escaped virus from the lab or naturally occurring. Out of an abundance of caution they stopped travel and shut down the country just in case of a worst case scenario.
While the "models" predicted millions of deaths, it turned out not to be the case. The numbers I have seen show a mortality rate on par with the flu and if you look deeper most of those who passed on had underlying conditions. Now that the worst seems to have passed, and there are currently available (cheap) drugs that appear to work fairly well it is time to open the country for business. One would hope travel to/from China is still restricted (banned).
It's time to end the power grab by Democrats in the face of a crisis and the spending of Billions or Trillions of dollars by the Government as a whole.

There is so much that has been debunked about this virus. They are making a big deal about the different strains of covid19. Guess what that is exactly what happens in nature. There were about 20 strains of SARS.
Think about why they are padding the numbers so much? Why are they making everything related to covid19?
Now we find out that there are many people immune to covid19, that is exactly what happens with a natural virus.
This is not some biological super duper deadly weapon. It's a virus, compared to prior pandemics, not even close to being the deadliest.
The President has already given the go ahead, to those stubborn inept Blue State governors, listen to your citizens. OPEN UP!

Revisit the medical journal articles next summer when all the data is in. Propaganda from China has to be filtered carefully. Its deeply embedded in US media. President Trump said in today's press briefing that if he didnt shut the economy down, if he didnt shut down travel from China, then Europe then England, the southern and northern borders, we would have 1-2 million deaths, and his actions saved lives. So I guess he lied to the American people every day. |

I listened to the Presidents briefing today. He knows what he is doing, I have no problem with him saying what he has to say. They are going to try to impeach him for not acting on March 1st, when we had one death and a dozen cases. I am not going to knock him for being PC.

If it turns out he was fed wrong data then he still followed the science as told to him. Remember the pictures of bodies on the street in Wuhan and the numbers coming out of Italy. What this study and other facts will show is there were far more people infected that never got sick which means this isn’t as deadly as they first thought. |

Lets look at the timeline again. The Flu season ramps up in October. The Flu vaccines starts in August. There are several OTC remedies that people can use to self medicate at home like Theraflu and alike. The Flu season comes to a slow crawl end of April as the weather warms up. So the aggressive attack on the flu starts in August, and we still have 27,000 to 60,000 deaths each flu season. Corona virus is projected to cause 60,000 deaths in only 3 -4 months. Uh.. yeah. This is fucking deadly as hell, even after the border shut down, the hand washing, mask wearing, social distancing, shelter in place, try HCQ, Remdevonier, and plasma therapies, the stuff you dont get done with the common flu.
If it turns out, they were chasing the wrong virus or that chinese propaganda influenced the WHO, that influences these studies, will that get posted here too?
Remember how Global warming is causing death and destruction all over the world? Why is that? Follow the money, and you will find the propaganda that generates all the studies in the world trying to convince you that cow flatulence and your SUV and Truck is the cause.
Yeah, I dont believe this massive onslaught, this hard push to make you think the 40,000 plus lives inside of 3 months is no big deal. Something stinks with the reporting, with the statistics, projections and the instant know it all experts that say I told you so. There is something that doesnt make sense at all. And an article from MSN, isnt going to convince me that out of their benevolent heart, they are trying to calm the public down. On the contrary. They are trying to make the President look foolish or reckless or impetuous or all of the above 6 months before an election.
