I don’t live in the city but If a cop asked me about social distancing I would keep walking and ask if I’m under arrest. Arrest me if you wish. Will help knock out the mortgage.

I feel sorry for the cops put in that position, but we, they, are not duty bound to obey an unlawful order. You must make sure what you are going to enforce has past the constitutional test.
I don't think its unreasonable to tell people of the benefits of social distancing, or to disperse a crowd that is disorderly on any given day. Issue the summons, but then what? Nada, zilch, zero. Leave and go figure out whats for dinner.

So, kinda on topic, but without cops involved, me thinks. last week I was speaking with a neighbor and a friend of hers while walking my dog and on my property and had ten feet or so separation wise. some white dude I noticed as acting peculiar, in that he'd keep on looking over at US as he strolled on by across the street while talking into his cell intermittently. since Old Dominion University is close by and their cops are not really being used as normal and they have a GAOE of a one mile radius to play cops and they take full opportunity to do so, Norfolk PD hates them and calls them wannabe's and they are right, i had it in the back of my mind that this was one of the wonder kids playing social distancing cop. i asked him at least five times as he looked over at US, hey what are ya looking at. he'd walk a bit more and look again and i'd repeat myself a bit louder. neighbor picks up on this and asks me what i'm doing. she knows my background and i explained to her of nefarious possible criminal behavior might be afoot. well douchebagg decides to cross to our side and keep on doing his walk talk into his cell phone and lil ole me with mr sig sauer on my hip. when he got a view of that he was really wide eyed. rapidly left the area and about ten minutes later a ODU cruiser creeps on by. by this time the neighbor was inside and i had my dog and covered up mr. sig. cruiser stops and i recognize the guy. we nodded our nods and i said to him to keep his wayward children on the campus and he said he'd try as he is a boss. phucking stupid shitte like that is gonna get some citizen or worse a Cop injured.

One unifying fact of life: everyone hates Bill de Blasio.Maybe he would do better to examine his own behavior during all this. Because when the spit hits the spam and there’s a look back as to actions, one has to look at his actions, encouraging the people to go to events and on the subways, plus keeping the school open which may have impacted why New York and specifically New York City have suffered so much through this all.

An officer can do nothing but vocally encourage the anti-social distancing without him/herself violating said distancing directives by approaching to less than six feet of the citizens. This is not a police issue and should be referred to the Health Dept for any further action. Our oath is to the Constitution not to whatever idiot lives in Gracie Mansion.
