Those panface bastards already fired their first shot.
Nuke them already.
Japan , Vietnam, Korea and China have been nothing but a headache to America. Those panfaces are the true enemy. !

I'm no military expert, but since the advent of nuclear weapons it seems that ships are a very vulnerable targets. Have we gone toe to toe with any "first world" navy since the end of WWII? I hope I don't sound naive, and influenced by Tom Clancy novels, but wouldnt one of those EMP explosions high in the atmosphere render an entire fleet useless?

I’m not expert on any of this but I would venture to say that military hardware has been “hardened” to prevent an emp from having its desired affect.

Perhaps, but what about an explosion of a nuke in the general vicinity of a fleet? I was watching a show the other night about Cheyenne Mountain, the NORAD HQ. That place is buried beneath a mile of stone to protect it from a nuclear attack, which made me think that any place that is NOT Cheyenne Mountain is vulnerable, especially naval assets.

The NORAD complex was built in the 60s, and became operational in 67. Its been 53 yrs, and we have made leaps and bounds in protecting from EMPs. Our problem is the computer hacking and surveilling that amounts to billions of attacks on our defense industries, government departments and military assets every 24 hrs. These cyber attacks are done by super AI computers built by adversaries and allies alike, looking for an edge or advance technologies. We have already seen one such attack where an advanced drone was taken over and landed by Iranians inside their territory. All of that technology was shared with all their partners, like Russia, China, Pakistan, North Korea. Some might think it was purposely flown and landed by the CIA, to plant malware when they attempt to download our system, and that may possibly be the reason why Obama didnt order a strike on it. None the less, the reverse engineering and stealth technology is a gold mine for states that are not benevolent to the US. As the most advanced country in the world, look what a virus can do to side lining Naval Ships, and military personnel, the economy and such. The total costs could go above 10 trillion dollars when all is said and done. And it probably cost China maybe around $450,000 to 1 million to research, alter and release. The return on investment for China is astronomical, despite the deaths it caused to their own, who they really dont care much for.
