Just 10 days after the commencement of operation Desert Storm, she lifted our country from uncertainty and delivered a masterpiece for the ages. An impeccable rendition done with honor and respect. But I must say, Whitney did it so well, that she set the bar to which all others will be compared. And for that reason, Whitney is on top. Everyone else has to ratched up every ounce of talent, and then some. Lady Gaga certainly moved me with her vocals. |

Not a knock on Whitney Houston’s version, but her’s was sang in unison with a prerecorded version. The NFL wanted it this way, in case of a malfunction... think Mariah Cary NYE. Lady GaGa was all her.

Lady GaGa was all her. Wow, didn't know that. Read an article where it said Lady Gaga sang it Live, while Whitney sang it live into a dead microphone, but her recorded version just a week earlier was piped through. Apparently it was NFL policy to play a "protection copy" to avoid any slip ups while taping live. Good find. Goes to show you can learn something every day. |

Whitney Houston, in a lot of people's opinion, had the Greatest Voice EVER, and I would have to agree. Very close to her were Sara Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. Whitney was SO GOOD but it looked TOO EASY for her. She sometimes looked bored while singing while blasting notes that only angels could sing. Its a shame that she hooked up with a guy that got her into smoking crack.
Here's Pearl Bailey with Sarah and Ella, and even though is live and they are older, the new kids on the block can't hold a candle to them.........

They should just give up having all of these a-holes sing the National Anthem. Whitney Huston's was the best ever and no one else has even come close. They should just play a recording of her performance and forget about all of these other people.
