First off, you have to do a "save as..." of the .gif and save it on your computer. Then, go to the "Reply" box and, up top, where it says "Edit Attachments," upload the .gif you saved on your computer into the Reply box. It will look small, but the reader can click on it and see the full thing, as we see here......

I keep getting a link. How do you do it from a cell. I'm on it 99% of the time. E put up a gif that is in motion without having to click on the pic.

You can post GIF's with an outside host here without having to save it to your computer. i.imgur.com/FtKgEj9.gif1. Use your mouse and copy the URL of the source GIF. 2. Open the reply window and click on the image/ photo icon. 3. Paste it into the small window and hit Create Post.

Better method, if on a PC: First the image should be online, either: - Hosted on a free image-hosting site like imgur.com/ (do not host at Photobucket, which does not allow free linking anymore).
- Hot-linked from its original location, on someone's site. Note some sites may break hot-links to minimize use of their bandwidth; in such cases you must download to your PC, then upload to an image-hosting site.
Second, once you have the image location (either image-hosted or original), you can post by clicking the Insert Image button and pasting the Image URL in the resulting dialog box. The image below (linked from an uploaded file at imgur.com) shows this. Third, once the image is in place here, you can resize it, by clicking on the image and grabbing one of the corner boxes to pull the image bigger or smaller. You can also position it's orientation on the page by clicking it and selecting from justification options above (the 4 boxes with multiple, stacked horizontal lines).

Make sure that when you open the Insert Image window that you remove / backspace over the htpp:// that is always there and highlighted in blue.
You need that space empty to insert/paste your hosted GIF URL.

Thanks guys. I think GIFs may only work from a computer. I tried desktop view from my cell and it still wont work. Each time I tried exactly as you stated, it would be a blank post when I hit the create button.
I'll try from my iPad instead. If that doesn't work then the laptop is my next option
Photobucket was so much easier.

Photobucket was so much easier. Photobucket sucked with all the spammy ads on their site and their recent cock-blocking of all image linked files. Imgur.com works great. You don't need to make an account to upload files to link. If you do make an account you can create sub-folders to organize pictures, if you want. It's at least as easy to use as PB used to be.
