The national anthem is about service, not selfishness. Its a call to duty for something greater than yourself. Its not about self interpretation. Sing it how it was meant to be sung. Sing it from deep in your heart. Sing it out of love for your nation. Sing it for your sons and daughters, brothers and sisters who are in harms way, serving others. Don't make into a "Look at me!, Look at me" moment. You are taking 2 minutes to lift your country with your voice. All she did was ridiculed herself and anyone who holds the anthem as a sacred as the American flag.
Whitney Houston's is still the best rendition ever.
