This means of course that cops have to buy a whole new set of uniform pants...at $60 a pop.

$60?? I came on in 1968 and the uniform pants cost more than that back then. What are they making them out of - paper?
Our uniforms cost $600. There were only 4 uniform dealers you could go to to purchase them. When you went to the Equipment Bureau you had to take out a pension loan to pay for them and it came out of your bi-weekly pay check. $600.00 BUCKS. We MADE $5,400 a year. And you beter not dare try to get by with a pair of ESS pants and it didn;t matter if you worked in the biggest sh*thole precinct in the city.
