I've had both DirecTV and Dish Network, and as evpi50 stated when heavy cloud cover arrives or thunder storms arrive you can forget about the picture on your TV.... it's gone.
DirecTV is best for you if you like sports... Dish Network is also pretty good for sports, but no NFL Ticket- Dish Network is also great if you need any international channels like Al Jazeera (LOL) or RAI or any other Intl channel...
-on a positive note-
If you have let's say a house in Queens and house upstate by the lake, you can mount an antenna (dish) on both homes... and either keep reciever in both locations or just take a reciever with you when you go upstate... The carrier (dish network or direcTV) will have no clue where your recievers are. It eliminates the need for multiple accounts basically all you pay is the additional receiver fee of @ $5 per month on however many receivers you decide to keep for the second home.... OR SO I HAVE BEEN TOLD...
