WORCESTER - Worcester police say a clerk at city liquor store fatally shot a person who attempted to rob the store.
Detective Capt. Edward McGinn Jr. tells the Worcester Telegram & Gazette that the suspect was shot multiple times as he and an accomplice tried to rob Big Bob’s Liquors at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
The injured man was taken to a city hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 10:45 p.m. The other suspect fled the store on foot and is still at large.
McGinn say at least one of the suspects had a gun.
Police could not immediately identify the two suspects and did not release the name of the clerk.
The worker was taken to police headquarters to be interviewed. He was not charged.
