AG - the early migrations were MUCH longer than 20 years ago, my father moved us up here 35 yers ago & there were plenty who had come before us. Migrations occur every time there's a decent contract settlement & people are earning just enough more to squeak by with the mortgage, etc.........
Putting in sidewalks doesn't mean you're bringing the crap you left behind, I think of my old neighborhood in Brooklyn (Flatbush), there were sidewalks in LONNNNGGGGGGG before the neighborhood went bad. It's a matter of finding that right mix of what you left to find & what you left behind. Personally, I like where I am & the fact that there are no sidewalks, etc. but I also like having them in the town itself - it makes for much safer walking around.......
