Those countries crave our leadership, and all of them, including Viet Nam, would be loyal allies.
We couldn't defeat the Viet Namese for various reasons in the 1960s, but our soft power can bring them over.
The Vietnamese hate the Chinese with the fires of a thousand suns. They fought a brief border war with China in 1979 and until the French colonized Vietnam, it was a vassal state of China, which Vietnam overthrew to gain independence after a 1000 year Chinese rule. The Vietnamese still haven’t forgiven the Chinese for it.
