The one guy who used to take on that Gorman in letters to the editor was, I believe, the Transit PBA's McKechnie (or was it Maye?) after he retired. In any event, whoever it was challenged Gorman's assertions very effectively, which surprised me that the paper actually printed his letters.
I only read that Gorman's letters a couple of times, since I realized that he was only doing it to see his name in print. He reminded me of those clowns down in Times Square standing on street corners babbling very loudly thinking that people actually cared about what they were saying.
