The current state of China is an anomaly. Over the millennia China has been a fractured geographical location (five or so) ruled by war lords (emperors). "We" created the current China (or at least made it possible to exist in the form we now see it in) right after WWII. The demographics and geography of that part of the world will likely see it devolve into warring, self-destructive factions in around ten or fifteen years.
The above is not my brilliant, insightful deductions, but the conclusion I've come to after reading a number of geopolitical strategists whose opinions I think merit attention.
