A good looking guy who resembled Ryan O'Neal the actor sat next to me in my college class 45 years ago. When the class was over he got up to leave and I saw then he had only one arm. He was 19 years old and when we became friends I asked him what happened. He was doing only 45 miles an hour when he hit an oil slick and went sideways off the bike and the concrete was like sandpaper tearing at his arm. By the time the ambulance came and got him to the ER the Doctors had no choice but to amputate. Any thoughts I had then about getting a bike when out the window!
